Marvin Straus is an experienced litigator with almost two decades of handling cases in Federal and State Court from pre-litigation evaluation to appeal. He is lead trial counsel for jury and bench trials throughout the State of California. His practice focuses on business disputes as well as complex first and third-party insurance defense, complex fraud litigation, bad faith defense arising from a variety of insurance products, defense of unfair claim settlement practices claims, and complex first and third-party insurance coverage matters. Mr. Straus currently manages all aspects of California litigation for Straus Meyers, LLP.
Mr. Straus is counsel to many small businesses as well as regional and national insurance carriers. He has defended automobile and trucking losses involving large and catastrophic losses. He has conducted hundreds of depositions, mediations, adjudication, as well as, examinations under oath in large loss, arson, property theft, auto, commercial, cargo, trucking, and specialty claims. He has also served as an expert witness for insurance coverage and related matters.
Mr. Straus is frequent presenter to professional organizations, and businesses on topics involving real estate, effective use of liability defense tactics, examinations under oath, fraud, coverage, compliance with insurance regulations, ethics, and bad faith issues. Numerous publications for distribution to trade organizations and clients. Mr. Straus provides review and value-added advice for businesses and insurance organizations.
Mr. Straus previously served as a board member on the bad faith committee for the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Straus is a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and is a proud member of the San Diego Insurance Adjuster’s Association, where he serves on the board.
